The X-series is a sort of umbrella category of various non-traditional shaped electric guitars produced for Hoshino Gakki and sold under the Ibanez brand.
The X series designation was first used by Ibanez in 1983 to encompass new Destroyer and Rocket Roll models. In 1987 X series was discontinued but it was reintroduced in 2007 with Xiphos series. However the "X series" concept can be extended to include any and all "extreme" guitar shapes produced by the company.
The X series encompasses following:
- Destroyer series
- Rocket Roll series
- Xiphos series
- Arondite series
- Halberd series
- Glaive series
- Falchion series
- Iceman series (only since 2007, older Icemans was not in X-series)
- Fireman series
