The UCMD Snakeskin is an RG series solid body electric guitar model introduced by Ibanez in 1989. It was produced in the United States as part of the Metal Design series of the USA Custom line. The Metal Design models feature bodies which are covered in iridescent fabrics in exotic designs.
The Metal Design (UCMD) series had various decorative finishes including animal prints, some of which were provided using a fabric covering. Similar to the Graphic Design series, these guitar were merely finished and assembled in the Unites States with parts from Japan.
The UCMD Snakeskin is a Extremly rare Ibanez based on the RG570 model. It features a basswood body covered in a silver gray snakeskin patterned fabric bolted to a maple neck with a 24-fret bound rosewood fingerboard with pearloid dots position markers and a matching headstock. Components include DiMarzio PAF Prohumbucking pickup at the bridge, a DiMarzio FS-1 single coil pickup on middle and a DiMarzio FRED at the neck position, an Edge double locking tremolo bridge. Controls are volume, tone and a 5-way lever pickup selector, cosmo black hardware a locking nut and Gotoh tuning machines.
