The UCMD Reptilian is an RG series solid body electric guitar model introduced by Ibanez in 1989. It was produced in the United States as part of the Metal Design series of the USA Custom line. The Metal Design models feature bodies which are covered in iridescent fabrics in exotic designs.[1]
The UCMD Reptilian features a basswood body covered in a reptilian patterned fabric bolted to a maple neck with a 24-fret bound maple fingerboard with black dot position markers. Components include a DiMarzio Super Distortionhumbucking pickup an the bridge and a pair of DiMarzios VS-1 single coil pickups in middle and the neck positions, an Edge double locking tremolo bridge. Controls are volume, tone and a 5-way lever pickup selector, cosmo black hardware a locking nut and Gotoh tuning machines.
This represents only the "stock" configuration, as customers could customize the guitar to their own desires. The customer could select the pickup configuration and pickups, the fretboard material and inlays, the headstock, the hardware color and more.
