The UCGR3 is an RG series solid body electric guitar model introduced by Ibanez in 1991. It was produced in the United States as part of the Graphic Design series of the USA Custom line. The Graphic Design models feature bodies which are handpainted by "some of the most skilled and imaginative artists in America".[1]
The UCGR3 features a basswood body bolted to a maple neck with a 24-fret maple fingerboard with dot position markers. Components include a DiMarzio-made IBZ/USA F2 humbucking pickup at the bridge paired with IBZ/USA C2 single-coils at the middle and neck positions, an Edge double locking tremolo bridge, a locking nut and Gotoh tuning machines. The bridge pickup is pink, the middle pickup is yellow and the neck pickup is green.
The image on this guitar, entitled "Guitar Ecstasy", features an image of a female holding a guitar with a checkerboard background of black and blue sky with clouds. It was handpainted and signed by Pamelina H.
This represents only the "stock" configuration, as customers could customize the guitar to their own desires. The customer could select the pickup configuration and pickups, the fretboard material and inlays, the headstock, the hardware color and more.
The UCGR3 was discontinued after 1991 although a similar Custom Graphics series was offered in 1992.
