    • I don't recognize that pickguard, nor that control layout. Other than that, the body looks like an AX120 or something similar. It may have been modified.

There should be a serial number on the back of the headstock. What does that say?

    • I can't find another one like it online. There is no serial number on the headstock.

    • The lack of a serial number seems like a red flag. I wouldn't really think a GIO AX model would be popular enough to inspire a fake, but I wouldn't completely rule it out.

Did you buy it? I'd be interested in seeing more detailed images of the back, rear of headstock, neck joint, controls, etc. It's definitely an odd one.

    • The neck joint doesn't look like an ibanez one in my opinion, cheers.

The neck joint looks like the one on the AX120. Same with the shape of the pickguard (except for the cutout for the middle pickup).

The detail that really doesn't look like any other model is the controls layout.

    • Actually, I think I may have figured it out.

This is probably a GAX30 to which someone has added a middle single-coil and a third knob (volume for the middle p/u?), swapped the 3-way pickup selector for a PRS-style rotary selector, and also painted the back of the neck. The positions of the controls, contours of the body and the shape of the neck joint are all consistent with the GAX30, which is available in gloss white.

While it's possible this could be a factory spot model, I'd say it's much more likely that these were aftermarket modifications, especially since they painted over the SN on the back of the headstock.

    • As for the original question of what year it is, if my GAX30 theory is correct it would have to be from 2018 or newer based on the block inlays and the pickguard shape.
