  • does anyone know what material is it made out of and that can ut stand the newer strings? i want to try cobalt string and nyxl and im worried if the frets will wear out easily.

    • Ibanez hasn't given much detail on what "Sub Zero" frets really means. Presumably they're typical nickel-steel frets that have been cryogenically treated. I haven't seen it quantified anywhere what that really means in terms of hardness.

      That said, I've used both Cobalt an NYXL strings with typical nickel steel frets and have not noticed any more wear than with "standard" strings. I guess if you've got a really aggressive style that your mileage may vary, but it's not something I would worry about. Worst case you wear out the "Sub Zero" frets in a couple of years and (if you're still vibing with the guitar) then you get it refretted with stainless.
