{{ Info1 }} Template documentation: Speclist-acoustic [edit] [purge]

This documentation is transcluded from Template:Speclist-acoustic/doc.

The Speclist-acoustic template automatically creates a specifications table which can be used on guitar model pages for acoustic instruments. It is one of the four key elements of a complete guitar model page. For more information, see the Project guide.

This template has more than 20 named parameters, and that doesn't necessarily make it an easy template to use, but the main purpose is to create a uniform and clean look for the specifications lists which can be easily modified from one place.

Usage of the speclist template

First of all, for more global information on templates see Help:Template. This will also help anyone understand the following guide.

To include a speclist to a page using this template without using the Rich text editor (which is suggested), the following code should be inserted and filled out. This list includes the most used aspects/parameters:

{{speclist
 | name =
 | series =
 | subseries =
 | subseries2 =
 | year =
 | area =
 | made =
 | colors =
 | bodytype =
 | bodysize =
 | bodyshape =
 | bodylength =
 | bodywidth =
 | bodydepth =
 | mattop =
 | bracingtop =
 | finishtop =
 | matback =
 | finishback =
 | backinlay =
 | bodybinding =
 | sh_shape =
 | sh_rosette =
 | neck =
 | matneck =
 | finishneck =
 | scale =
 | matfb =
 | bindingfb =
 | fbinlay =
 | frets =
 | pickup =
 | preamp =
 | output =
 | battery =
 | bridge =
 | bridgepins =
 | saddle =
 | nut =
 | hw =
 | pg =
 | tuners =
 | strings =
 | tuning =
}}
Note: It's not necessary to use this exact list or order, other formats can and will be found around the wiki. Nevertheless it is probably the easiest if a consistent order is maintained.

Filling out parameters

Filling out parameters is as simple as typing something after the =. Every parameter corresponds to a certain cell in the table, so, for example, if you want RG550 to appear behind Name:, simply type RG5550 behind name= (this is the 'name' parameter). Below is a list of parameters and corresponding table labels.

Since there are a lot of guitar models already added and all of them are using this template, a certain 'style' is developed over the course of time. More info on that in the following table.

Parameter:Label:Style:
name Name: The model number, usually the same as the page title, but can also include alternate names.
series N/A The series or line with which the guitar is most closely identified (e.g. RG series). Creates a link in the titlebox at the top of the article to the series. Should be the name of the article on the series, not wikilinked.
subseries N/A A secondary series or line to which the guitar belongs (e.g. GIO series). Creates a link in the titlebox at the top of the article to the series. Should be the name of the article on the series, not wikilinked.
subseries2 N/A A tertiary series or line to which the guitar belongs (e.g. Mikro series). Creates a link in the titlebox at the top of the article to the series. Should be the name of the article on the series, not wikilinked.
yearYears:The year(s) in which the guitar is released
areaAreas:The areas in which the guitar is released. Most used areas are EU for Europe, JP for Japan and/or Asia and US for the United States. Other areas can be included.
madeMade in:The country in which the guitar is manufactured
colorsFinishes:The finishes in which the guitar is released with the color code, full name and optional notes (years, area in which finish was available, etc.). For example: BK (Black) ''(2009)'' / WH (White) ''(2008–2009)''
bodytypeBody type: Solid body, hollow body, semi-hollow, etc.
bodytypeBody size: Jumbo, Grand Concert, etc.

matneckNeck material:The woods/materials used for the neck
matfbFingerboard:The woods/materials used for the fingerboard
neckNeck type:The name of the neck shape, linked to an article if possible
scaleScale length:The maximum vibrating length of the strings, provided in mm and inches, e.g. 672mm (26.5")
fretsFrets:The number of frets and fret type

tuningFactory tuning: The tuning pattern as set up at the factory. Consider omitting for guitars using standard EADGBE tuning.
tunersMachine heads: The type or model of machine head (a.k.a. tuning pegs or tuners) that are installed.

Extra parameters

The Speclist table now features a title bar. The default title is 'Specifications for PAGENAME', but this can be overridden using the title parameter.
