The TCB1006 is a six string, semi-hollow body electric bass model introduced by Ibanez in late 2017. It is a signature model for American musician and producer Stephen "Thundercat" Bruner. It is crafted in Japan by Sugi.
The TCB1006 features a semi-hollow, single-cutaway design with a quilted maple top with ivory binding on curly maple back and sides mated to a set-in maple and purpleheart neck with a 24 fret rosewood fingerboard with ivory binding and pearloid acrylic block position markers. Components include a pair of EMG 45Hz passive magnetic pickups, a Hipshot A-style bridge with Graph Tech Ghost piezo saddles, a Graph Tech Ghost on-board EQ, Sure Grip III knobs, Hipshot tuners, and Gotoh strap locks.
La Bella strings were spec'd starting in 2022.
Premier Guitar sums up the TCB1006 in their review by saying, "the Thundercat bass is very big, very heavy, and very expensive. It also sounds great, looks beautiful, and represents the excellence of the top craftsmen at Ibanez."[1]
