For a list of Stephen "Thundercat" Bruner models, see Portal:Stephen "Thundercat" Bruner series.

The Stephen "Thundercat" Bruner series is a signature line of hollow body electric bass guitar models offered by Ibanez. It is the signature series of Grammy-winning American bassist, singer, and songwriter Stephen Lee Bruner (born October 19, 1984) who is better known by his stage name "Thundercat". He has become one of the most creative bassists in modern music.[1]

Bruner's first signature bass, the TCB1006 was released by Ibanez in mid-2017. It is a six string bass with a massive hollow body. It has both piezo and magnetic pickups which allow it to cover a lot of sonic ground.

History[]

Bruner first gained prominence as the bassist for thrash punk band Suicidal Tendencies of which he was a member from 2002 through 2011. In 2011, he released his first solo album, The Golden Age of Apocalypse which contains an amalgamation of jazz fusion, R&B, and dance/ electronic music which has been Bruner's milieu since. He collaborated extensively with Kendrick Lamar on Lamar's breakout To Pimp a Butterfly album which was released to critical acclaim in 2015.

The TCB1006 was originally conceived as a custom shop one-off, but Bruner's growing profile convinced Ibanez to make it available to the public. It is built by Sugi who supply Ibanez's most high end instruments and is among the most expensive instruments Ibanez offers.
