The SZ1220 is an SZ series solid body electric guitar model offered by Ibanez in 2004. It is the only SZ model that was made in Japan by FujiGen as part of the Prestige line.
The SZ1220 features a flamed maple top on a mahogany body mated to a set-in mahogany neck with a 22-fret rosewood fingerboard with binding and no inlays. Components include a Gibraltar III fixed bridge with staggered through-body stringing, a pair of Ibanez Vintage humbucking pickups, a bone nut and Gotoh tuning machines.
The SZ1220 was made for just one year. It was replaced for 2005 with the similar, Korean-made SZ2020FM.
