The ST70 is a Studio series solid body electric guitar model introduced by Ibanez for 1981. It was made in Japan by FujiGen. It replaced the similar ST55.
The ST70 features a laminated mahogany body mated to a set-in maple neck with a 24-fret rosewood fingerboard with pearloid dot position markers. Components include a pair of Ibanez V2 humbucking pickups with exposed cream bobbins mounted in cream pickup rings with individual volume and tone controls, a Tune-o-matic style Gibraltar fixed bridge with Quik Change tailpiece and Smooth Tuner machine heads. The output is mounted on the face of the guitar.
The ST370 is a related model with a rosewood top on an ash body, a Tri-sound switch and gold hardware. The SB70 is a related model with a Blazer-style neck which was introduced in 1982.
The ST70 was discontinued after 1981. A somewhat similar ST60 with a 24¾" neck scale with 20 frets and a pickguard was introduced for 1982.
