The SRC6 is a six string Soundgear series solid body electric bass model introduced by Ibanez for 2014. It was made in Indonesia as part of the Ibanez Bass Workshop line.
Although a six-string bass, it's design philosophy is very different from others in Ibanez line, featuring a much narrower string spacing, shorter scale length and, most notably is tuned an octave below a standard guitar, instead of the more conventional B to C of other six-stringed bass guitars. It's general design is very similar to Fender's Bass VI instruments.
The SRC6 features a double-cutaway mahogany body bolted to a 30-inch scale jatoba and bubinga neck with a 24-fret rosewood fingerboard with abalone oval position markers. Components include a pair of EMG passive pickups, an Ibanez custom preamp with a three-band EQ, an Ibanez Tight End bridge with 10.8mm string spacing, a plastic nut and Ibanez tuning machines.
For 2018 the rosewood fingerboard was replaced with jatoba and the jatoba and bubinga neck was replaced with jatoba and walnut. For 2019 the mahogany body was replaced with okoume.
The SRC6 was discontinued after 2020. The SRC6MS is a multi scale version introduced for 2023.
