The SR885 is a five string Soundgear series solid body electric bass model introduced by Ibanez for 1990. It was produced in Japan by FujiGen as part of the Standard line.

The SR885 features a double-cutaway basswood body bolted to a laminated SR5 maple and walnut neck with a 24-fret rosewood fingerboard with pearl dot position markers and a matching headstock. Components include a special 5-string fixed bridge with 16.5mm string spacing, and a pair of Ibanez Lo-Z regulated active pickups channeled through a EQB-Ⅱ preamp with 2-band EQ, a plastic nut and Gotoh tuning machines.

The SR885 was mostly sold in the USA with special finishes like: SR, TC, TT, JM, MB, AB and GN. For Europe the TB was manufactured as an exclusive finish.

The body was made mostly of basswood. In 1993 it was offered in Ash for the US. market. In 1994 it was offered on Resoncast only in Europe and In 1995 was offered in Light American Maple for the US market.

The bridge was changed from Standard 5 strings to Die-cast (1994-1996) and then Accu-cast B25 (1997-2003).

The SR885LE is a very similar model. The SR885SM is related model with mahogany body and saman top. The SR895 is a related model with gold hardware.

The SR885 was discontinued after 2003.
