The SR8205 is a five-string Soundgear series solid body electric bass model introduced by Ibanez for 1998. It is made in Japan by FujiGen as part of the high end J Custom line.
The SR8205 features a double-cutaway mahogany body with carved top bolted to a wenge and bubinga SR5 neck with a 27-fret wenge fingerboard with 3 abalone ovals inlays at 12 fret and side dots. Components include a IBZ SFR-MB pickup on the bridge position and a IBZ SFR-MN pickup on the neck position with an Ibanez Vari-Mid 3-band passive EQ, 510BR-5 Graphite fixed bridge with 16.5mm string spacing, Gotoh GBS510 machine heads and pearl gold hardware. Controls consist of a single volume and balance, treble boost/cut, bass boost/cut, mid boost/cut.
