The SR8100 is a Soundgear series solid body electric bass model introduced by Ibanez for 1997. It is made in Japan by FujiGen as part of the high end J Custom line.
The SR8100 features a AAAA flamed maple top on a double-cutaway walnut body bolted to a wenge and bubinga SR4 neck with a 24-fret wenge fingerboard with abalone oval position markers. Components include a Bartolini MK-1 BC4C-T pickup on the bridge position and a Bartolini MK-1 BC4C-B pickup on the neck position, a Bartolini® TCT 3-band EQ, Mono rail bridges with D-Tuner set at 19mm string spacing, Gotoh GBS510 machine heads and pearl gold plated hardware. Controls consist of a single volume and balance, treble boost/cut, bass boost/cut, mid boost/cut, and a two-way mid frequency selector (250hz, 600hz).
For 1998 two models were made: SR8205 and SR8205F, thereafter no other J. Custom bass was produced until the JCSR2021 for 2021.
The SR8100 was offered in very limited numbers only in 1997.
