The SR505ZW is a five string Soundgear series solid body electric bass model introduced by Ibanez in mid-2011. It was produced in Indonesia as a spot model which was sold only through select retailers.
The SR505ZW features a zebrawood top on a double-cutaway mahogany body bolted to a jatoba and bubinga SR5 neck with a 24-fret rosewood fingerboard with abalone oval position markers. Components include a pair of Bartolini MK1-5 passive pickups with an Ibanez EQB-IIIS with 3-band EQ and 2-way mid-frequency selector, an Accu-cast B305 fixed bridge with 16.5mm string spacing, a plastic nut, and Ibanez die-cast tuning machines.
For 2016 the preamp was changed to an Ibanez Custom Electronics BEQ3 with 3-band EQ and 3-way mid-frequency selector. For 2018 the neck construction was changed to jatoba and walnut and the fretboard was changed to jatoba.
The SR500ZW is a four string version. The SR505 is a similar model without the zebrawood top. Several versions with other exotic wood tops were also produced: the SR505PB (poplar burl), SR505QM (quilted maple), and SR505SM (spalted maple).
The SR505ZW was discontinued after 2018 and replaced for 2019 by the similar SR505EZW.
