The SR500ZW is a Soundgear series solid body electric bass model introduced by Ibanez for 2014. It was a spot model which was made in Indonesia and sold exclusively through US retailers Musician's Friend and Guitar Center.
The SR500ZW features a zebrawood top on a double cutaway mahogany body bolted to a jatoba and bubinga neck with a 24-fret rosewood fingerboard with abalone oval position markers. The headstock has a veneer to match the body. Components include a pair of Bartolini MK1 passive soapbar humbucking pickups, an Accu-cast B300 fixed bridge, a plastic nut, and cosmo black Ibanez die-cast tuning machines. Controls consist of a global volume; a balancer; a 3-band EQ with individual treble, midrange and bass boost/cut controls; and a mid-frequency selector toggle (250hz, 600hz).
The SR505ZW is a five string version. The SR500 is a similar model without the zebrawood top. Several versions with other exotic wood tops were also produced: the SR500PB (poplar burl), SR500QM (quilted maple), and SR500SM (spalted maple).
