The SR500SM is a Soundgear series solid body electric bass model introduced by Ibanez for 2011. It was crafted in Indonesia as part of the Standard line.
The SR500SM features a spalted maple top on a double-cutaway mahogany body bolted to a jatoba and bubinga SR4 neck with a 24-fret rosewood fingerboard with abalone oval position markers. Components include a pair of Bartolini MK1 passive soapbar humbucking pickups, an Accu-cast B20 fixed bridge with 19mm string spacing, an Ibanez EQB-IIIS preamp with 3-band EQ and mid-frequency switch, a plastic nut, and cosmo black Ibanez die-cast tuning machines.
The Amber Burst Gloss finish was offered exclusively by Japanese retailer Kurosawa Gakki. A limited number of 28 pieces with this finish were produced.
The SR505SM is a five string version. The SR500 is a similar model without the spalted maple top. Several versions with other exotic wood tops were also produced: the SR500PB (poplar burl), SR500QM (quilted maple), and SR500ZW (zebrawood).
