The SR5005MW is a five string Soundgear series solid body electric bass model introduced by Ibanez for 1997. It was produced in Japan by FujiGen as part of the upscale Prestige line. It was also referred to as simply the SR5005 or SR5005-MW.

The SR5000MW has a special arched, double-cutaway seven-piece body constructed of two outer mahogany pieces separated from a walnut center block by thin walnut and basswood strips which is bolted to a bubinga and wenge SR5 neck with a 24-fret wenge fingerboard with abalone oval position markers and a "Custom Made" inlay at the 24th fret. The headstock features a striped ebony veneer and a valoot. Components include individually mounted Mono-rail fixed bridges with a D-tuner on the bass (E) string, a pair of Ibanez Sonic Full Range (SFR) passive soapbar humbucking pickups channeled through a Vari-mid preamp with a 3-band EQ and sweepable mid-frequency crossover control, a graphite nut, pearl gold hardware and deluxe Gotoh tuning machines.

The SR5000MW is a four string version. The SR5005MPW is a similar model with maple rather than mahogany in the outer two pieces of the body construction. The SR5005MM is a related model with a mahogany, walnut and basswood body. The SR5005SM is a related model with a nine-piece saman, walnut and basswood body construction and different pickups.

The SR5005MW was discontinued after 1999.
