SR5005 Oil

The SR5005 is a five string Soundgear series solid body electric bass model introduced by Ibanez for 2015. It is made in Japan by FujiGen as part of the upscale Prestige line. It replaced the similar SR5005E.

The SR5005 features a wenge top and back on a double-cutaway mahogany body bolted to a titanium reinforced wenge and bubinga Atlas neck with a 24-fret wenge fingerboard with mother of pearl and abalone oval position markers. Components include a pair of custom Bartolini passive pickups with an Ibanez custom preamp with a three-band EQ, a Mono-rail bridge with 16.5mm string spacing, a GraphTech Black TUSQ nut and Gotoh tuning machines.

For 2018 the body species was clarified as African mahogany. For 2019 the wenge and bubinga neck was replaced with wenge and walnut.

The SR5000 and SR5006 are similar four and six string models. The SR30HM5 is a similar model with a figured heartwood maple top and back.
