SR5000 is a model name used to refer to several varieties of Soundgear series solid body electric bass guitars offered in the late 1990s and again from 2009. All of these models were produced in Japan by FujiGen and are part of the upscale Prestige line.
1996–1999 SR5000 models[]
All of these models have a special arched, multi-piece body in a double-cutaway shape. The differences between them have to do with the wood species used in their construction. In each of them the body is bolted to a bubinga and wenge SR4 neck with a 24-fret wenge fingerboard with abalone oval position markers and a "Custom Made" inlay at the 24th fret. The headstock features a striped ebony veneer and a valoot. For further details on the components and any differences see the individual articles linked below.
- The SR5000MM or SR5000-MM (1997–1998) is a nine-piece construction made of three pieces of mahogany separated by 5mm strips composed of basswood/ walnut/ basswood.
- The SR5000MPW also referred to as SR5000-MPW, SR5000MP, or SR5000-MP (1996–1998) is a seven-piece body with two outer maple pieces with a walnut block sandwiched between separated by thin walnut and basswood strips.
- The SR5000MW or SR5000-MW (1997–1999) is a similar construction to the MPW version above with mahogany in place of maple.
- The SR5000SM or SR5000-SM (1996) has a similar construction to the MM version above with saman replacing mahogany.
2009–2014 SR5000E model[]
- The SR5000E has a wenge and mahogany body.
2015–2024 SR5000 model[]
- The SR5000 has a wenge and mahogany body. It is very similar to the SR5000E with the major difference being a new preamp.
