The SR405QM is a five string Soundgear series solid body electric bass model introduced by Ibanez for 2007. It was initially produced in Indonesia; production moved to China for 2011 and returned to Indonesia for 2013. It was part of the standard line.
The SR405QM features a quilted maple top on a double-cutaway basswood body bolted to a laminated maple neck with a 24-fret rosewood fingerboard with pearl dot position markers. Components include a pair of Ibanez DXH passive pickups with an Ibanez Style Sweeper preamp, an Accu-cast B-25 bridge with 16.5mm string spacing, a plastic nut and Ibanez tuning machines.
For 2008 the neck was changed to a five piece maple and rosewood construction and the pickups were changed to Ibanez EXF-5s. For 2012 the body material was changed to mahogany (retaining the quilted maple top), the bridge was swapped for the new Accu-Cast B305, the pickups were again changed to Ibanez CAP EXF-N2s and the preamp was changed to the EQB-IIID. For 2013 the pearl fretboard dots gave way to white acrylic dots.
The SR400QM is a similar four string model. The SR405BCW is a similar model with a claro walnut top and black hardware.
The SR405QM was replaced for 2016 with the SR405EQM, which is a similar model with different pickups.
