The SR4005E is a five string Soundgear series solid body electric bass model introduced by Ibanez in 2009. It was made in Japan by FujiGen as part of the upscale Prestige line.
The SR4005E features a double-cutaway mahogany body bolted to a wenge and bubinga neck with a 24-fret wenge fingerboard with white pearl oval position markers and a rosewood headstock. Components include a pair of USA-made Bartolini Custom soapbar humbucking pickups feeding a Power Curve III preamp with 3-band EQ, individually mounted Mono-rail IV fixed bridges with 16.5mm string spacing, a Graph TUSQ XL nut, and Gotoh tuning machines.
Controls consist of a single volume; a balancer; a 3-band EQ allowing individual boost or cut of up to 12dB for treble, midrange, and bass; a Mid-Q control to adjust the midrange crossover points; and a toggle to bypass the preamp and send the signal from the pickups directly to the ¼" output.
For 2010 it got the new Atlas-5 HP neck with KTS titanium reinforcing rods. The knobs were changed for 2014.
The SR4000E and SR4006E are four string and six string versions, respectively. The SR5005E is a similar model with a wenge front and back. The SR4505E is a related model with an ash body and a maple fretboard.
The SR4005E was discontinued after 2014.
