The SR256 is a six string Soundgear series solid body electric bass model introduced by Ibanez in mid 2012. It was produced in China as part of the Standard line.
The SR256 features a double-cutaway mahogany body bolted to a laminated maple neck with a 24-fret rosewood fingerboard with pearl dot position markers. Components include a pair of Ibanez CAP EXF-N2 passive pickups feeding an EQB-IIID preamp with 3-band EQ, an Accu-cast B16 fixed bridge, and Ibanez die-cast tuning machines.
For 2013 the body material was changed to basswood and the pearl dot fretboard inlays gave way to acrylic white dots.
The SR256FM is a similar model with a flamed maple top. The SR250 and SR255 are four string and five string versions. The GSR256 is a related model in the entry-level GIO line.
The SR256 was discontinued after 2015.
