The SR2040E is a fretless Soundgear series solid body electric bass model introduced by Ibanez for 1989. It was produced in Japan by FujiGen as part of the Standard line.

The SR2040E features a neck-through-body construction on hard maple wings body with arched top attached to a maple neck with a 24-fret ebony fretless fingerboard with off-set small white dot position markers and a matching headstock. Components include a HB-4 fixed bridge with 19mm string spacing, and a pair of DiMarzio IBZ/USA C2-P/J passive pickup's, a plastic nut, cosmo black hardware and gotoh tuning machines.

The SR2000E (1989) is a related fretted model. The SR1000E is related model with alder body. The SR1100E is a related model with sen body.

The SR2040E was only offered in 1989.
