The Ibanez S5470 is an S series guitar model and one of the first 24-fret S guitar models made widely available for the public, introduced along with the S5470F, S5470BW and E-Gen in 2008. Also, it was the return of Japanese made S Prestige guitars as all S Prestige models from 2005 to 2007 were made in Korea. Other features include Ibanez designed pickups and the ZR2 tremolo.

In 2009 two new finishes were introduced: Cosmic Blue Mica and Red Optimus. Addition for 2010 is the new Super Wizard HP neck.
