The S5470 is an S series solid body electric guitar model introduced by Ibanez in 2008. It was made in Japan by FujiGen as part of the upscale Prestige line.
The S5470 was among the first 24-fret S series models made widely available for the public, introduced along with the S5470F, S5470BW and EGEN18 in 2008. Also, it marked the return of S series Prestige production to Japan; all S Prestige models from 2005 to 2007 were made in Korea.
The S5470 features a mahogany body bolted to a maple and walnut neck with a 24-fret indian rosewood fingerboard with offset dot position markers and special dot inlay at 12 fret. Components include Ibanez pickups with a pair of Hot Grinder humbuckers flanking a Short Tracer single-coil, a ZR2 double locking tremolo bridge with a removable ZPS3 tuning stabilizer, a locking nut and Gotoh tuning machines.
In 2009 a new version of the Short Tracer middle pickup was introduced. For 2010 the neck was changed and KTS titanium reinforcing rods were added.
The S5470 was discontinued after the 2013 model year. It was replaced for 2014 by the S5570 which is a very similar guitar with a Lo-Pro Edge tremolo.
