The S540BM is an S series solid body electric guitar model introduced by Ibanez in 1992. It was made in Japan by FujiGen and replaced the very similar 540SBM.
The S540BM features a burl mahogany top and back on a mahogany body bolted to a maple neck with a 22-fret rosewood fingerboard with binding and oval position markers. Components include a Lo-Pro Edge double locking tremolo bridge, a locking nut, Gotoh tuning machines and Ibanez pickups with a pair of humbuckers flanking a single-coil.
For 1995 the pickups were changed from DiMarzio-made IBZ/USA F1/C3/F2s to Ibanez Quantums.
The S540FM is a similar model with a flamed maple top. The S540LTD is another similar model without the exotic top and with sharktooth fretboard inlays.
