The S520EX is an S series solid body electric guitar model introduced by Ibanez in 2005. It was initially produced in Korea and then later in Indonesia.
The S520EX features a thin, sculpted mahogany body bolted to a maple Wizard II neck with a 22-fret rosewood fingerboard with binding and claw scratch inlays only at the twelfth fret. Components include a pair of Ibanez Infinity covered humbucking pickups and a ZR ball-bearing pivot double locking tremolo bridge with a ZPS2 tuning stabilizer.
The S470 is a related model with an added middle single coil pickup and a conventional dot inlays. The S620EXFB is a related model with a figured bubinga top.
The S520EX is the second model known by that name after a 2002 model. A special limited version of the S520EX was offered in 2007 as the S07LTD.
The S520EX was discontinued after 2009 in favor of a new series of 24-fret S models.
