The S470 is an S series solid body guitar model introduced by Ibanez in 1995. Several versions of the model exist, this one is manufactured in South Korea and was sold only in the USA, where it supplanted the Japanese S470. The Japanese version continued to be offered outside of the USA.
This S470 features a mahogany body bolted to a maple Wizard II neck with a 22-fret rosewood fingerboard with dot position markers. Components include Ibanez Axis pickups with a pair of humbuckers flanking a single-coil and a Lo-TRS II double locking tremolo bridge.
The S470L is a left-handed version. The S470DX is a similar model with a bound fretboard with sharktooth inlays. The S470FM is a similar model with a flamed maple top.
The S470 was discontinued after 2001, but the model name was resurrected in 2003 with a completely revised model which was produced in Korea and eventually Indonesia.
