The Roadster series is a line of solid body electric guitar and bass models produced by Hoshino Gakki and sold under the Ibanez brand. It was introduced in 1979 and offered for four years.
The Roadster guitars are similar in appearance to the Fender Stratocaster although without the Stratocaster's iconic pickguard or angled output jack. It has an offset double-cutaway body with rounded contours and rounded edges and single-coil pickups with a 5-way selector. The Roadster basses are similar to Fender basses.
The Roadster series represented Ibanez's first attempt at Strat-style guitars that weren't direct copies of Fender's designs. The series included just a handful of guitar models over just over two years. The Roadster guitar line was essentially replaced by the similar Blazer series. The Roadster bass line lasted a few more years until being replaced with the Roadstar II series for 1983.
