The RS940 is a fret-less Roadster series solid body electric bass model introduced by Ibanez for 1980. It was produced in Japan by FujiGen.

The RS940 features a double-cutaway solid ash body with a walnut top bolted to a maple neck with Volute reinforcement, a fret-less maple fingerboard with black dot position markers and a walnut headstock. The instrument is equipped with Super (J/P-4) pickups controlled by the EQ-B2 passive-active correction system and the Accu-Cast B bridge with brass saddles and 19mm string spacing, a bone nut, chrome hardware and Hercules B tuning machines.

The neck is screwed using the experimental, very stable Quadra Lock system (four screws screwed into threaded sleeves pressed into the base of the neck)

The RS924 is a similar fretted model.

The RS940 was discontinued after 1982.
