The RS840 is a fret-less Roadster series solid body electric bass model introduced by Ibanez for 1980. It was produced in Japan by FujiGen.

The RS840 features a double-cutaway solid ash or mahogany body bolted to a maple neck with tuned response, a fret-less maple fingerboard with small off-set black dot position markers and a matching headstock. The instrument is equipped with a Super P/J-4 pickup configuration, an Accu-Cast B bridge with brass saddles and 19mm string spacing, a bone nut, Nichrome plating hardware and Hercules B tuning machines.

The RS824 is a similar fretted model.

The RS840 was discontinued after 1981.
