The RGR5221 is an RG series solid body electric guitar model introduced by Ibanez for 2020. It is made in Japan by FujiGen as part of the upscale Prestige line.
The RGR5221 features an ash top on an African mahogany body bolted to a maple and wenge neck with a reverse headstock and a Macassar ebony fingerboard with 24 stainless steel frets, offset mother of pearl dot position markers and luminescent side dots. Components include a pair of Bare Knuckle Brute Force humbucking pickups, a Gibraltar Standard II fixed bridge and Gotoh locking tuning machines.
For 2025 the bridge was changed to Gibraltar Standard III.
The RGR5220M is a related model with a double locking tremolo bridge and a birdseye maple fretboard. The RGR5227MFX is a similar seven string model with a birdseye maple fretboard.
