The RGMS8 is an eight string RG series solid body electric guitar model introduced by Ibanez for 2018. It is made in Indonesia.
The RGMS8 is a multi scale model featuring fanned frets with a 27.2" (692mm) scale length at the eighth string and a 25.5" (648mm) scale length at the first string. The equalized string tension this design allows contributes to a more "alive" tone while the fanned fret layout provides an ergonomic platform for the player's hand as it moves up and down the neck facilitating speed and comfort.
In addition to the multi scale design the RGMS8 features a mahogany body bolted to a maple and walnut neck with a 24-fret jatoba fingerboard with split offset white dot position markers. Components include a Mono-rail fixed bridge and dual Array-7 MS humbucking pickups.
For 2019 the mahogany body with replaced with nyatoh.
The RGMS7 is a similar seven string model. The RGDMS8 is a related model from the RGD series with Fishman Fluence pickups.
