The RGA72QM is an RGA series solid body electric guitar model introduced by Ibanez in 2011. It replaced the 2010 model with several changes.
The RGA72QM features a mahogany body with an arched quilted maple top mated to a titanium-reinforced set-in maple neck with a 24-fret rosewood fingerboard with special inlay at the 12th fret. Components include dual, covered Ibanez active CAP-LZ humbucking pickups and a fixed bridge. A special feature is the active EQ switch which activates a mid-cut.
For 2011, the RGA72QM was updated with a new set of pickups and an updated body with deeper scoops on the cutout horns. The Wizard II neck was replaced by the Wizard III. In addition the sharks fin/ wave inlays were replaced by a pearl inlay on the 12th fret.
Similar models are the RGA72TQM which has a double locking tremolo bridge and the RGA72QME with EMG pickups. Similar seven-string (RGA7QM) and eight-string (RGA8QM) were also offered. A more affordable model is the RGA42FM with a bolt-on neck and flamed maple top.
The RGA72QM was discontinued after 2012.
