The RGA42FM is an RGA series solid body electric guitar model introduced by Ibanez in 2009. It was one of the first non-Prestige RGA models along with the RGA42 and RGA32.
The RGA42FM features a mahogany body with an arched flamed maple top bolted to a maple neck with a 24-fret bound rosewood fingerboard with dot position markers. Components include dual covered Ibanez active humbucking pickups and a hard-tail bridge. A special feature is the active EQ switch which activates a mid-cut.
For 2011, the body shape was updated with deeper scoop cuts on the horns. In addition a new set of pickups was introduced and the Wizard II neck was replaced by the Wizard III.
The RGA42 is a similar model without the exotic wood top. A similar model with a tremolo was introduced as the RGA42TFMZ in 2011.
The RGA42FM was discontinued after 2012. A new model with the same name was introduced for 2017.
