The RG970XL is an RG series baritone solid body electric guitar model introduced by Ibanez in 2001. It was made in Japan by FujiGen as part of the upscale Prestige line.

The most notable feature of the RG970XL is the 27" baritone scale neck that allows it to be tuned to a lower range and/or use a higher string gauge. Other features include a basswood body with binding bolted to that long maple neck with a 24-fret rosewood fingerboard with binding and offset abalone dot position markers. Components include a Lo-Pro Edge double locking tremolo bridge, DiMarzio pickups with a pair of humbuckers flanking a single-coil and Gotoh tuning machines.

The RG1077XL is a somewhat similar seven-string baritone model.

The RG970XL was discontinued after two years in production.
