The RG8527Z is a seven string RG series solid body electric guitar model introduced by Ibanez for 2010. It is the first seven string that is a part of the handcrafted-in-Japan J Custom line since the 2007 RG8427F.
The RG8527Z features a flamed maple top and binding on an African mahogany body bolted to a titanium reinforced maple and wenge neck with Velvetouch treatment and a 24-fret rosewood fingerboard with flamed maple binding and Tree of Life inlays. Components include dual DiMarzio PAF 7 humbucking pickups, an Edge Zero 7 tremolo bridge with removable ZPS tuning stabilizer, an angled input jack and Gotoh tuning machines.
The KTS titanium neck reinforcing rods were dropped during 2018. Additionally, a new Rhodonite Pink finish was added for 2018 as a spot model for sale exclusively by retailer Ishibashi in Japan. For 2020 the fretboard was changed to Macassar ebony.
The RG8527SP is a similar limited production model with a spalted maple top and gold hardware. The RG8527FX is a similar model with the fixed bridge.
