The RG8420QD is a RG series solid body electric guitar model introduced by Ibanez in 2015. It was made in Japan by FujiGen as part of the high end J Custom line.
The RG8420QD features a AAAAA quilted maple top on an African mahogany body bolted to a titanium-reinforced maple and walnut RG J Custom Super Wizard neck with Velvetouch treatment and a 24-fret rosewood fingerboard with flame maple binding and abalone and pearloid Tree of Life vine inlays. Components include dual Seymour Duncan humbucking pickups, a Lo Pro Edge double locking tremolo bridge, recessed Easy Access control knobs and Gotoh tuning machines. Controls consist of master volume and tone knobs, a 3-way toggle pickups selector (with a layout similar to the John Petrucci model) and one tri-sound toggle for each pickup which activate humbucking, parallel or coil-split pickup functionality.
The RG8420ZD is a related model with a flamed maple top, a different bridge and no tri-sound switches.
