For the earlier model with the same name, see RG7421 (2000–2003) . The RG7421 is a seven string RG series solid body electric guitar model introduced by Ibanez for 2013. It is produced in Indonesia.
The RG7421 has a basswood (later mahogany) body bolted to a maple Wizard II-7 neck with a 24-fret rosewood (later jatoba) fingerboard with white dot position markers. Components include a fixed bridge and dual Ibanez humbucker pickups.
For 2015 mahogany was substituted for basswood as the body material. For 2018 jatoba replaced rosewood for the fretboard. For 2019 the mahogany body was replaced with meranti. For 2020 the bridge was changed to the F107. For 2024 a new mono-unit output jack with an integrated metal plate was introduced.
The RG7421EX is a similar model with black and white multi-binding on the top. The RG7420 is a related model with a tremolo bridge. The RG421 is a six string version.
The RG7421 was discontinued in all markets except USA and Canada after 2023.
