The RG620X is an RG series solid body electric guitar model introduced by Ibanez for 2002. It was produced in Japan by FujiGen.
The RG620X has L.R. Baggs active piezo pickups in the bridge for acoustic-like sounds. It features a basswood body bolted to a maple neck with a 24-fret rosewood fingerboard with dot position markers. Components include a Double Edge double locking tremolo bridge with locking nut, Ibanez V7 & V8 humbucking magnetic pickups and Gotoh tuning machines. It has a pair of ΒΌ" outputs to allow the piezo and magnetic pickup signals to be processed separately.
Controls consist of a single volume and tone and a five-way pickup selector for the magnetic pickups, a volume for the piezo pickups, and a three-way toggle to select the active output: piezo only, mix (sent to the magnetic output), or magnetic only.
The RG620X replaced the RG520X which is a similar guitar with a different control layout and no ability to blend the piezo and magnetic pickup signals. The RG620X was replaced in 2003 by the similar RG1620X which has a Double Edge Pro bridge and Super Wizard neck and is part of the Prestige line.
