The RG565 model name has been applied to several distinct RG series guitar models.

All of these models share several basic traits: RG-style body and an HS pickup configuration with a humbucker at the bridge and a single-coil sized blade-style humbucker at the neck. Unless noted below these models also have a basswood body, maple fretboard, and a double locking tremolo bridge.

RG556 commonly refers to one of these models:

  • RG565 (1991–1992); made in Japan, tilt neck joint, Wizard neck, Edge tremolo, Ibanez HB2 and SB1 pickups, dot position markers match the finish
  • RG565 (2020); Genesis Collection MIJ reissue; tilt neck joint, Super Wizard neck, Edge tremolo, Ibanez V8 and Infinity R pickups, dot position markers match the finish
