The RG550 is an RG series solid body electric guitar model introduced by Ibanez for 1997. It is a reissue of the original RG550, which was produced between 1987 and 1994.

Like the classic RG550, this reissue has a basswood body and a maple and bubinga neck with a maple fingerboard with dot inlays. Components include pickguard-mounted Ibanez pickups in an HSH configuration, a double locking tremolo bridge and a locking nut.

Although the RG550 name was discontinued after 2002, the model itself lived on in 2003 as the RG1550 as part of the expanded Prestige line. Some changes to the components were made including the new Edge Pro tremolo bridge.

The RG550 was reissued in 2013 as part of the Genesis Collection.
