The RG550LTD is an RG series solid body electric guitar model introduced by Ibanez for 1994. It was produced in Japan by FujiGen.
The RG550LTD features a basswood body bolted to a maple (maple and bubinga from 1997) neck with a 24-fret rosewood fingerboard with binding and sharktooth position markers. Components include a Lo-Pro Edge double locking tremolo bridge, a locking nut, Ibanez pickups mounted in a mirror pickguard with V7 & V8 humbuckers flanking an single coil and Gotoh tuning machines.
The RG550LTD was the second RG550 model featuring a mirror pickguard, following the RG550DX which it replaced. The black examples have a standard mirror guard. The blue and purple guitars sport color-matched mirror guards. So called "hologram" guards are used on the pewter and copper models.
The RG550LTD was discontinued after 1999. It was replaced by the RG550EX for 2000.
