The RG550EX is an RG series solid body electric guitar model introduced by Ibanez for 2000. It was produced in Japan by FujiGen.
The RG550EX features a basswood body bolted to a maple and bubinga Super Wizard neck with a 24-fret rosewood fingerboard with mirrored dot inlays and matching headstock. Components include Ibanez Vintage pickups in an HSH configuration, a locking nut, a double locking tremolo bridge and a mirrored pickguard.
The RG550 is a similar model with a maple fretboard and black pickguard. The RG570EX is also similar but lacks the pickguard and has sharktooth fretboard markers.
The RG550EX was sold only in Europe and was discontinued after 2002. It was essentially replaced by the RG2550EX as Ibanez consolidated all of their Japanese-made guitars under the Prestige banner.
