The RG550DX is an RG series solid body electric guitar model reissued by Ibanez in 2019. It is produced in Japan by FujiGen as part of the throw-back Genesis Collection.
The RG550DX features a basswood body bolted to a maple neck with a 24-fret granadillo fingerboard with binding and white sharktooth position markers. Components include Ibanez Vintage pickups mounted in a black pickguard with V7 & V8 humbuckers flanking an S1 single-coil, an Edge double locking tremolo bridge and Gotoh tuning machines.
Although it bears the name of the RG550DX from the early 1990s, it actually bears a closer resemblance to the RG750 which had a rosewood fretboard and one-piece neck but was otherwise very similar. The original RG550DX had a color-matched mirror pickguard and maple fretboard with dot inlays.
The RG550 is a similar model with a maple fretboard with dot inlays.
