The RG53 is a Roadstar II series solid body electric guitar model introduced by Ibanez in 1986. The Roadstar II series would eventually become known as the RG series.

Despite the RG name, the RG53 has the rounded-edge body style and swoopy, rounded headstock of the older Roadstar II. It is one of only a small number of RG models with a three single coil pickup configuration. It has a tone chamber routed out of the body beneath the pickguard.

The RG53 features a chambered basswood body bolted to a maple neck with a 24-fret rosewood fingerboard with dot position markers. Components include three Ibanez Super 7F single coil pickups and a Powerocker Special tremolo bridge.

The RG50 is a similar model with a humbucker in place of the single-coil at the bridge. The RG52 is another similar model with dual humbucking pickups.

The RG53 was offered only in Japan and was discontinued after 1986.
