The RG470 is an RG series solid body electric guitar model introduced by Ibanez for 1998. It was made in Japan by FujiGen.
The RG470 went through several iterations throughout the years. For this third iteration production was returned to Japan from Korea and several changes were introduced over the second model, including a new bridge and pickups. This third generation RG470 was sold exclusively in the USA in 1998 and 1999 while the Korean-made second generation continued to be offered elsewhere. Production of the Korean model ceased after 1999 and this model was sold worldwide starting in 2000.
This RG470 features a basswood body bolted to a maple neck with a 24-fret rosewood fingerboard with pearl dot position markers. Components include a double locking tremolo bridge, Ibanez Vintage pickups in an HSH configuration and a locking nut.
For 2003 the bridge was changed from the Lo-TRS to the Edge Pro. The 2003 and 2004 models were available only in Japan. Production was ceased after 2004.
The RG470L is a left-handed version. An extended range, baritone version with a 27" scale length, the RG470XL was offered in 2001 & 2002.
The RG470 was discontinued after 2004.
