The RG470FMR features an American basswood body with a flamed maple top bolted to a maple neck with a 24-fret rosewood fingerboard with dot position markers and a black headstock. Components include a double locking tremolo bridge with a locking nut and Ibanez Infinity pickups with dual humbuckers flanking a single-coil.
The 1994 version had a Wizard neck profile and a Lo-TRS tremolo; it was discontinued after one year. The model was revived for 1996, this time with a Wizard II neck profile and a Lo-TRS II tremolo.
